Project Description

This is an exciting project that focuses on solving mathematical problems that arise in applying estimation theory to practice, and on implementing these solutions in Matlab. The UROP RA will use an existing theoretical method to code an estimation routine for a complex nonlinear economic model with a large number of structural parameters. Implementation of this theoretical method requires creative solving of multiple practical mathematical challenges, with the goal of improving computational efficiency. Sources of these challenges include model’s complexity, the number of equations used in estimation, size of parameter space, and data size. This work requires creativity, initiative, and thoroughness. All work will be done remotely. Expected hours are 40 per week, with flexible timing. The candidate should be fully committed to the project.
