They weave themselves into the fabric of everyday life until they are indistinguishable from it. -Mark Weiser The Responsive Environments group are currently exploring sensors and textiles manufacturing techniques to design smart materials and fabrics for wearables, everyday objects, and the environments. We integrate common materials such as threads, fabrics, and rubbers with flexible and stretchable sensors and electronics to demonstrate various applications of sensor networks from health sensing, activity recognition, to physical interaction. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of this project, depending on the background, skills, and interests, the UROP student will be expected to perform one/several of the followings: * Develop and fabricate sensors, interconnects, and hardware systems * Develop wireless communication system and analyze sensor data * Perform real-time processing and visualization of sensor data
Are creative, driven, and passionate. Are interested and experienced in one or more of the followings: wearables, sensor fabrication, sensor interfacing, wireless communication, PCB design, textile and apparel design, illustration, machine learning and/or programming.
