Project Description

Continuing research from the summer looking at how COVID is impacting vulnerable groups, the Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism is seeking students to fill three roles: website building, map making, and resource gathering. We are currently in the process of building a website to share our research. We need help with a few areas of functionality including: A) Creating responsive websites that work across device and allows the project to scale over the Fall and Spring as resources, mapping, and research expands; B) creating online exploratory maps that help reveal the spatial cofactors driving vulnerability to COVID mortality among specific groups and its indirect impacts on learning for young students; and, C) gathering, tagging, and organizing resources that are available to vulnerable groups across a broad spectrum of types including food, shelter, education, technology, etc. Within each of these mini-projects we are seeking students to dedicate 5-10 hours a week to help support and extend the expertise of the students already on the project.

For the website building position, you must be familiar with and show examples of prior web design using CSS, HTML, and Javascript. For the mapping position, you must be familiar with QGIS/ArcGIS and show evidence of spatial mapping expertise including data gathering, data cleaning, and online publishing (preferably with Mapbox). No prerequisites are needed for the research support and resource position.
