Optimization and website development for flight scheduling at busy airports
Alexandre Jacquillat, email@example.com
We are seeking a UROP to work on the development of an online interface for airport scheduling. In previous research, we have developed an optimization model and algorithms to assign flights to “slots” (i.e., scheduled times) at busy airports—while satisfying a number of operational and regulatory constraints. We have also developed a preliminary website that provides the foundation toward an online decision-making support tool. In the next phase of the project, we will enhance the website to make it more automated—so a practitioner can enter data inputs, run the optimization model, visualize the outputs, and make decisions accordingly. We may also make adjustments to the optimization algorithm. We are aiming to deploy this decision tool to a few airports globally. The successful candidate needs to have experience in software development, website development, and analytics. He/She will work with Prof. Alexandre Jacquillat (Sloan, ORC), Prof. Amedeo Odoni (AeroAstro) and Prof. Nuno Ribeiro (Singapore University of Technology and Design).
