Project Description

The Open Documentary Lab is seeking a UROP to assist with research for Docubase, a curated database of the people, projects, and technologies transforming documentary in the digital age. UROPs will research how new tools and techniques offer creative possibilities for expression in fields ranging from journalism, film, education, and the art industry. By following non-fiction storytellers who are experimenting with immersive technologies, UROPs will gain a better understanding of how storytelling is changing and how it impacts our democracy and culture. UROPs will assist in categorizing shifts in the emerging field, curating playlists and projects, and research the latest AR/VR software and hardwares. UROP will also participate and assist in ODL events, such as weekly meetings, lectures, and a workshop on volumetric video capture.

Pre-requisites

A successful candidate should have a strong interest in immersive technologies (VR/AR/XR) applied for storytelling. Interest in the documentary arts, interactive media, and the history of science are a plus.
