A Novel Device For Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea
2: Mechanical Engineering
Ever had a bad nights sleep? Imagine if that happened every night....and the reason was that you stopped breathing not once but multiple times.....leaving you not only tired but at increased risk for health conditions such as heart attack and stroke. Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is common and under-treated because current devices are incredibly uncomfortable. Our team is a mix of engineers and physicians that are developing a next generation device that not only works but can be worn comfortably, consistently. We are looking for seniors (preferably from the Department of Mechanical Engineering) with a passion for building and testing new devices and who are looking for an in-lab/on campus research experience (https://ttdd.mit.edu) with a multi-disciplinary team.
Passion for building things and learning new techniques! 3D design and printing, thermoforming experience helpful but not required.
