Project Description

The MindHandHeart Initiative is looking for an enthusiastic undergraduate student for a Fall position to rollout our new MITcoin inititative. MITcoin is a new currency generated through random acts of kindness and donated to charity at the end of each year. (More information currently available online at MITcoin.mit.edu) The student will be responsible for building a website that offers all the capabilities of the mobile app, in order to increase the project’s accessibility across the MIT community. The student will also be responsible for assisting with the launch of the new mobile app/website. The student will be responsible for several key software updates as well as coordinating between MIT and the Apple App Store/Google Play Store to ensure that the campus-wide rollout of the app will be smooth, and will be given considerable freedom to update and innovate the current app as they see fit. In addition to the technical aspects of the project, this UROP offers a unique opportunity to coordinate with offices such as MindHandHeart, Residence Life, and Office of the First Year to effectively market this new program. The ideal student will be interested in both the marketing and web design aspect of the project, while being eager to help further the charitable aim of the project (e.g.developing a roll-out and publicity plan, meeting and coordinating with relevant offices at MIT). The student must be available for remote work during the entire fall semester, with option to continue through IAP and Spring, if wished.

Should be familiar with Javascript. Knowledge of ReactNative and Node a plus but not required
