Project Description
Our team is a team of clinician-scientists and engineers that are seeking to optimize the usage of mechanical circulatory support devices for the support of heart failure patients. The objective of this work is to create a platform for the evaluation of clinical Echocardiogram and hemodynamic waveforms as well as benchtop-derived hemodynamic waveforms. These signals will be utilized to learn about the dynamics of the interactions between the failing left ventricle and the aorta in order to better titrate mechanical support devices in different settings. The work relies on applying physiological concepts and using signal analysis and digitization of clinical data to learn about the state of the cardiovascular system. This work is relevant to students that are interested in medical application of signal processing research, and the project can be conducted remotely.
Pre-requisites
The ideal candidate will have experience with digitization of data, handling big data files, and signal processing. MATLAB and/or python proficiency.
