The Object-Based Media group and Open Ocean Initiative at the Media Lab are seeking a UROP for a project that includes an extremely large, pseudo-holographic, volumetric light-field display using laser projection. The immediate goal of this project is to enable the display and exploration of oceanographic and space data sets in an immersive and captivating environment. Longer-term goals will extend the display for game design and creative expression. The UROP will assist in creating a realtime graphics pipeline from data source to laser projection on multiple surfaces. The successful candidate should have a strong background in C++, openFrameworks, OpenGL, and OpenCV. Experience with Processing or Unity is also a plus. A strong portfolio with proven skills is required. Interests in human-computer interaction and game design are also desirable.
Requirements: C++, openFrameworks, OpenGL, and OpenCV Preferred: ofxEtherdream, interest in HCI and data visualization.
