The Opera of the Future group is looking for students interested in helping to develop an art installation that mediates a sound interaction between humans and the wind. The installation consists of a sculptural structure with multiple sonic and vibratory components that will be activated by motions of air and by the input of the visitors. This will provide an opportunity to work on hardware design, software design, the implementation of sensor systems, data mapping, and interactive art. In addition, the project opens up possibilities of exploring sound as a medium for stimulating collectivity and interconnectivity well beyond the human, and also researches environmental concerns, and more-than-human agency and performativity. Please include a copy of your resumé/portfolio.
Experience coding firmware, developing for sensors, data mapping, Arduino, electronics and hardware implementation. Experience or interest in sound art, art installations, improvisatory rituals, interactive art, more-than-human relations, the environment, ecofeminism.
