Project Description

One UROP position: this is a hands-on project in its 3rd year. An interdisciplinary team of 9 graduate and undergraduate students is continuing to improve a proof-of-concept Earth conditions prototype drill rig to recover water from subsurface ice on the planet Mars and to identify the layers of overburden using a pre-trained neural net and input from several sensors. The team will compete at the RASC-AL Special Edition at NASA Langley this summer and also participate in the European Space Agency’s IGLUNA 2020 field campaign. We can support a UROP to work together with two experienced graduate student team members in electrical and electronic subsystems and controls. The project ends in early June 2020.
