Project Description

The MIT Media Lab’s Fluid Interfaces group designs seamless interfaces for human augmentation. Building upon research in wearable computing, machine learning, psychology, and neuroscience, the Fluid Interfaces group investigates how human-machine symbiosis can enhance our cognitive skills such as attention, motivation, memory, emotion regulation, behavior change, empathy and more. We are seeking motivated and highly independent UROP(s) with a strong background in machine learning and computer science, who are interested in developing a generative AI and deepfake-like algorithms for human augmentation. For example, we are exploring the use of deepfake technology to create videos of a person talking in different languages in a real-time translation application. To apply, please answer the following questions and send your CV/Resume to joaleong@media.mit.edu : What do you hope to learn from this UROP opportunity? What is your vision about the project and how do you plan to contribute to it? Could you please describe your skills and experiences in the following areas : Machine Learning for Natural Language Understanding, Computational Language Models and Representation, Speech Synthesis, Generative Adversarial Network, Computer Vision, Human-Computer Interaction?

Pre-requisites

-Has at least some technical skills in the following areas: Machine Learning for Natural Language Understanding, Computational Language Models and Representation, Speech Synthesis, Generative Adversarial Networks, Computer Vision, Human-Computer Interaction - Is interested in thinking deeply about how intelligent agents could become an extension of human cognition
