Project Description

The Poetic Justice Group is developing a series of remotely accessible participatory sound and video artworks starting with A Counting (relaunched in June) a-counting.us, Real Talk Radio (TBA 2021) and Freedom Radio (TBA 2021). In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Mandela’s release from prison we’re partnering with the House of Mandela Family Foundation to create a new voice portrait of freedom titled Freedom Radio! We’re crowdsourcing both prompts and responses about freedom and live remixing alongside samples from interviews with human rights advocates and activists. We are looking for a UROP to help support the statistics and NLP process of our project. This would be a great opportunity for a first or second year student.
