Project Description

Political campaigns are moving to the Internet in novel and original ways. No longer is the Internet viewed solely as an advertising channel. It is now used for organizing and grassroots activism. We are inspired by Elizabeth Warren’s prevalent use of the selfies with her supporters. We want to see how well we can use this as a channel for mobilizing participation in campaigns and civic affairs. We can also measure the support of political candidates through the self publishing of selfies or the mining of selfies from social media. These mechanisms of measuring support through selfies are not to be taken lightly and the possible desire for anonymity is taken into account through alteration of selfies in a meaningful manner. If you are interested in using your web development and/or machine learning skills to build an innovative mobilization system like this or related to it, during the Spring, please apply.
