Project Description

Welded steel round tube over ~75mm outside diameter is rather expensive to purchase, especially if the users only needs a few hundred mm of length. Typical sheet metal slip rolls work with material up to only ~1.5mm thickness of material, or are very large, heavy, & expensive machines. Student(s) will design, manufacture and test a machine that will roll heavy gauge (3-6mm) steel sheet into cylinders 200-300mm in length suitable to be welded.

Pre-requisites

CAD, Solidworks preferred MIG welding Measurement & Instrumentation Beam/plate bending or Calc/Diff eq
