The Lieberman Lab is seeking 2-3 undergraduates to work as a team to develop our in-house evolutionary genomics pipeline into a powerful open-source (python) toolbox for the biology community. The goal of this pipeline is to enable precision inference of how bacteria evolve within human microbiomes and during infection. Modules of this toolbox will enable the inference of the spread of disease during outbreaks, the rate of horizontal gene transfer in the microbiome, and the most pressing challenges to bacterial survival during health and disease.
At least moderate proficiency in coding in Python, basic familiarity with UNIX, and basic familiarity with computational complexity theory. Interest in learning about computational biology.
