Project Description

Unity Programmers needed for IAP! The MIT Game Lab and Education Arcade are developing and pilot testing a proof-of-concept VR game for a high school audience. We want to help students understand relative scale in Biology and collaborate with each other on problem-solving. We currently have a 3D environment of the interior of a human cell, in which one person in VR is exploring with a helper AI, called FR3ND. A primary feature we are looking to develop this IAP is to improve the VR experience and to port the control scheme to non-VR for comparison. We are looking for a couple UROPs to join our development team this IAP, to polish certain features of the VR game for use in a research study this Spring. UROP Responsibilities may include: - Working alongside and reporting to MIT Game Lab/Education Arcade staff developers - Development of our VR game in Unity, for the Oculus Rift and Microsoft Surface. - Collaborating with other UROPs to design, implement, test, and iterate on game features. ---- TO APPLY: To apply to this UROPs, please send a resume, link to portfolio, and cover letter explaining your relevant experience and background to Rik Eberhardt <reberhar@mit.edu>. We will conduct interviews as we receive applications, in order to hire students in time for a January 6 start date.

Relevant experience may include: - Unity and/or C# - Game design - Developing for VR headsets - 3D modeling and animation - 2D illustration and graphic design - User Interface design - Github - Working in teams
