Project Description
This UROP will work with research scientists and developers at the Digital Currency Initiative in the Media Lab to design and implement open source software for digital cash, collaborating closely with a team at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Our goal is to design a robust, performant distributed backend for digital cash. We are exploring a range of designs and will also create cryptographic protocols for preserving transaction privacy and offline payments, bringing in knowledge from the world of cryptocurrencies. We’re looking for a UROP to help with implementation and performance optimization. This project has the potential for high impact with your contributions potentially having an effect on the future design of the global financial system. You'll learn from industry experts the practical steps required to design and implement a fast and secure digital currency system. Please email dci@media.mit.edu if you are interested or have any questions about the position. Just please be sure to mention DCI CBDC UROP in the subject line!
