Building artificial intelligence models of human language
9: Brain and Cognitive Sciences
May 7, 2020
If interested, please send CV to Jennifer Hu (email@example.com)
How can we build systems of artificial intelligence (AI) that use language in human-like ways? What do the successes and failures of AI tell us about the human capacity for language? Our research seeks to answer such fundamental questions about human language, drawing upon tools at the intersection of linguistic theory, cognitive science, and machine learning. We are seeking a motivated UROP to work with us virtually this summer. The ideal UROP will be proficient with Python and probability/statistics, enthusiastic about language and AI, and eager to learn new skills. Depending on your interests, your work may involve any combination of the following: (i) implementing neural network models, (ii) developing and running online behavioral experiments, (iii) performing probabilistic modeling, and/or (iv) analyzing large-scale text datasets. You will gain experience with cutting-edge developments in natural language processing and have the opportunity to advance our understanding of the human mind.
Proficiency with Python and probability/statistics; interest in language and artificial intelligence
