Big Data Sets to Understand Ocean Acidification
12: Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences
The oceans take up about 1/3 of the CO2 released into the atmosphere by human activities. The resulting changes to the carbon system lead to a decrease in pH. Such changes have far reaching consequences we are only now beginning to understand. Data collected over the last four decades still contain many secretes. The project will involve analysis of these large data sets to better understand the changing marine carbon cycle.
Proficiency in Matlab (preferred) or other coding language for large data analysis. General acid/base chemistry knowledge.
