Agricultural Innovation in Smallholder Farming Systems in India
EC: Edgerton Center
Elizabeth Hoffecker, firstname.lastname@example.org
As disruptions to global food production systems increase due to challenges from climate change, pandemics, political instability and other factors, the capacity for agricultural systems to adapt, innovate, and transform themselves becomes paramount. All agricultural innovation processes take place within a complex local system context, which influences the trajectory and outcomes of those innovation efforts. This project involves conducting (remote) secondary research on the local systems context for a series of agricultural innovation pilot initiatives taking place in Bihar, India. The research will inform the design of evaluation protocols for these pilots and will take place within the context of a larger research project focused on assessing a novel, multi-stakeholder approach towards catalyzing agricultural systems innovation in Bihar. This project is envisioned as a remote team project and we are interested in recruiting several students to work collaboratively on this research together. To apply: Interested applicants should email email@example.com and cc: firstname.lastname@example.org, with a brief explanation of interest, a description of relevant prior experience, and any questions about the opportunity.
Familiarity with and/or interest in northeastern India. We are particularly interested in students with background knowledge and/or an interest in agricultural practices and agricultural innovation in the Indian context. Prior experience conducting secondary research preferred.
