3D Printing Textiles
MAS: Media Arts and Sciences
The Tangible Media Group at The Media Lab is seeking a UROP. The project introduces a new approach to printing large volumes of thin, flexible textiles with standard 3D printing filament. Some of the long term goals of this project are to print patterned textiles, transforming kirigami structures, and full-size garments. This UROP project will involve generating a specialized design pipeline (rhino, grasshopper) that allows control of printing parameters and forms past what current 3D printing slicers are capable of. A successful candidate should have a strong background in Rhino and Grasshopper with experience in digital fabrication. Interests in human-computer interaction and materials science are a plus.
Solid background in Rhino/Grasshopper
